About the Library
Types of Materials in the Library

Policies and Procedures
 

  • Hours: 7:30am-3:00pm, Monday-Friday

 

  • You may have 5 books checked out at a time

 

  • Books may be borrowed for two weeks. Books may be renenewed for an additional two weeks as long as there are no holds on the book. 

 

  • Magazines may be borrowed for one week. 

Conduct 
 

We are committed to making sure that the library is a welcoming and productive place to be. While in the library, please remember to be respectful of others and the library space. 

Fiction
Stories that are created by the author

 

  • Fiction books are arranged by the first 3 letters of the author's last name.

 

  • For example, the call number for a book by James Dashner would be F DAS.

 

Magazines
Publications that are issued on a regular basis, such as weekly or monthly
 

  • BMX Plus

  • Field and Stream

  • Girl's Life

  • J-14

  • National Geographic Kids

  • Sports Illustrated for Kids

  • Teen Vogue 

 

Ebooks

Digital copies of books that can be read using an electronic device, such as an iPad 

 

  • Both fiction and nonfiction ebooks are available. 

 

  • To get an ebook, use the Follett ebook link, or download the Follett Bytewave App to your iPad. 

 

  • Username: First 6 letters of your last name and first two letters of your first name
    Password: Your school email password

 

Story Collections

A group of short stories 

 

  • Our story collections have an SC in front of the call number, followed by the first 3 letters of the author's last name.  

 

 

Nonfiction
Books that contain facts and true information

 

  • Nonfiction books are arranged in numbers from 000-999.

 

  • This system of classification is called the Dewey Decimal System. 

 

  • Each number stands for different categories, such as animals, sports, and geography. 

 

  • Nonfiction books are located to the left when you first walk into the library. 
     

Graphic Novels

A book that uses words and images to tell a story or communicate information

 

  • The call number for graphic novels is 741.5 followed by the first 3 letters of the author's name. 

 

  • Graphic novels are shelved in their own section, to the left of the fiction section in the library. 

 

 

Reference Books
Books containing useful facts and specifically organized information

 

  • These are nonfiction books that you might not read all the way through. They are encyclopedias, almanacs, dictionaries, and atlases. 

 

  • These books are located in the nonfiction section. 

 

Biographies

 A true account of someone's life

 

  • Biographies are labeled with a B on the spine, followed by the first three letters of the last name of the person who the book is about.
